The purpose of these workshops is to bring together the international community of microbial scientists to create awareness of progress being made towards developing a solution for naming uncultivated Archaea and Bacteria. A new, alternative code for naming uncultivated organisms, the “Un-Code”, is currently in development. These virtual workshops will provide background, a roundtable panel discussion, and a forum for community input.

Who Should Register

We are seeking participation across the international community of microbiologists including subdisciplines such as systematics, biomedical microbiology, microbial ecology, bioinformatics, taxonomy, microbial systems science, microbial genomics, etc. Early career scientists are encouraged to participate.

Earlier Workshops

A precursor workshop was conducted in 2018. Details about that event, along with recorded presentations, and background reading, can be found here
